VerIMe and Redivis Partner on Access to Secure Datasets

We are excited to be partnering with Redivis to identify opportunities to integrate identity verification in research data workflows. A core goal of VeriMe is to support community connection and empowerment by providing open science tools researchers can use and control.  Our particular focus is privacy-preserving identity proofing.  Our journey involves partnering with researchers and organizations aligned with open science principles.

Redivis empowers research organizations to easily distribute rich datasets, while providing researchers with accessible, high performance tools to drive discovery. It specializes in facilitating the distribution of large, high-risk datasets, where security and privacy are paramount. VeriMe Cooperative was founded to provide a researcher-centered and privacy-first approach to identity verification.  Together, we seek to ensure researchers are able to access the data they need for their research, while also maintaining security of the data.

Redivis co-founder Ian Mathews explained, “Identity verification is essential to establishing trust in the research data ecosystem, particularly when sensitive data are involved. Today, this remains a perennial headache for researchers and data administrators alike, with inconsistencies across identity providers and no robust solution for the common case of researchers moving between institutions. At Redivis, we’re incredibly excited for the potential of VeriMe to break down barriers in secure data sharing and help us collectively advance the research enterprise. ”

To support these goals, Redivis and VeriMe are working together to develop use cases relevant to our shared stakeholder communities, including defining appropriate cross-platform workflows for identity verification services. Our goal is to have VeriMe services implemented in Redivis workflows in time for our launch in October 2025.

“Researcher and mobility should not be mutually exclusive,” says VeriMe co-founder, Chris Phillips. “Open, robust science thrives on collaboration, built with great tools like Redivis, paired with strong oversight. VeriMe and Redivis together offer a win-win for researcher identity and mobility, ensuring trusted collaboration wherever your researchers are.”
