Surveying researchers and scholars about experiences with online privacy and identity verification

Each of us as Verime founders has deep experience in research, identity management, open research infrastructure, and national and global-scale social benefit startups.  But still, that is just our experience.

To better understand your experiences with identity management and privacy in research and scholarly contexts, we invite you to participate in a short survey.

Our goal is to launch a community-wide conversation about online identity and privacy

The survey opens 8 September 2025 and runs for 10 days. We value your opinion and your time: the survey takes about 5 minutes to complete, and we are providing a VeriMe membership discount code when you submit the survey.

We are promoting the survey globally and providing the survey in local languages. And we are following up with regional focus groups so we can explore these topics together – a registration link is provided to those who complete the survey.  We would love your help sharing the link with your researcher and scholar colleagues.

Our goal is to launch a community-wide conversation about online identity and privacy that brings the voices of researchers and scholars to the forefront and informs the design of every platform you encounter in your work, whether you are a professor at a university, a student doing field work, or a citizen scientist working in your neighborhood. We will be collating responses and publishing results after the survey closes

We are using a privacy-first survey platform that encrypts data end-to-end. We have designed the survey to be anonymous.  We are not asking for your name or email address to take the survey, but we will need this information from you if you want to register for a focus group or our newsletter. We are asking for the primary country in which you work, because that ensures we are engaging globally.
